What to Expect during the Submentoplasty Procedure?
Submentoplasty begins with a consultation, during which Dr. Sajan discusses the procedure, answers any questions, and develops a customized plan. On the day of surgery, patients are given local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on preference and recommendation. A small incision is made under the chin, allowing access to the underlying muscles and fat.
Once the area is exposed, the surgeon removes excess fat and tightens the muscles. The skin is then repositioned to create a smooth, natural contour. The process takes about one to two hours, after which patients can return home the same day.
